Mohammad Khordadian is one of the most popular and richest Dancer who was born on February 22, 1957 in Nizamabad, Telangana, India. He was a Tehran taxi driver before he left Iran. After the Islamic Revolution, he fled Iran to start a new life in Los Angeles as a dance teacher and performer. In the 1980s, he released Workout and Dance Lesson #1. This was his first video of dance instruction. He published Persian dance #2 in 1987. Both his works were published despite the legal ban on dance under the new regime. They found their way to Iranian families mostly through the black market and television stations owned by Iranian exiles. Khordadian performed with his company at the Los Angeles Music Center on 22 March 2008.
Khordadian was married to Jean Beaini, an Englishwoman. He and his wife, a ballerina, moved to London after the Iranian Revolution. They met in London and began working as dancers in a club. Later they moved to Los Angeles, California where they divorced. Khordadian revealed to Alireza Amirghassemi, Tapesh TV, that he was gay in 2006. His family, he said, accepted his homosexuality. While he was in Iran, he met and fell in love with a younger Iranian man. After a while, they split up and lived in Dubai together. Jean Beaini Khordadian, his ex-wife, and Khordadian met again in England to work together on a book about their relationship, and the time they spent in Iran during the revolution. It was published as For the Love Of Mohammad: A Memoir in July 2014.
Khordadian went to Iran to visit his relatives after the death of his mother. After more than twenty years, this was his first time visiting Iran. He was trying to flee Iran in May 2002 when he was stopped at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport. He was held in isolation for 21 days and in the Evin Prison for 40 days.
